Project Alpha

The Mu Zeta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. along with the MZL Education Foundation, Inc. presents Project Alpha: What’s Your Hook?, an annual youth training and development series.

Project Alpha aims to provide factual information about the issues facing today’s youth and the decisions they have to make every day while encouraging positive attitudes, behaviors and healthy relationships. This FREE event targets boys and girls (ages 13-18) in Polk County. Parents/guardians along with community, school and church groups are all encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided.

Youth will have the opportunity to participate in interactive discussions and presentations led by facilitators who will create a safe and comfortable atmosphere where they can express their thoughts and feelings. Participants will listen to and learn from the different perspectives offered by their peers while maintaining respectful group dynamics.

The program’s foundation help reach three goals:
1. Sharing of Knowledge – combating ignorance and fear with factual information
2. Changing Attitudes – providing motivation toward positive changes in overall behavior
3. Providing Skills – creating a sense of empowerment and self esteem
